OCTOBER AND DECEMBER 2026
- 30 October 2026 UK, maritime Seafarer protection: section 56 and Schedule 5 of the Employment Rights Act 2025 take effect Operators of services carrying persons or goods between a place outside the United Kingdom and a place in it. The Seafarers’ Wages Act 2023 is renamed and gains rest, fatigue and training conditions a harbour can ask an operator to declare. SI 2026/1065, regulation 3(d).
- 2 December 2026 EU Member States must transpose the Platform Work Directive Digital labour platforms organising work performed in the Union, wherever they are established. The legal presumption of employment, the limits on automated monitoring, and the rule that a person takes a decision to suspend an account. Directive (EU) 2024/2831, Article 29(1).
- 9 December 2026 EU Member States must transpose the revised Product Liability Directive Manufacturers, importers, authorised representatives, fulfilment service providers and distributors, with software and digital manufacturing files counted as products. It applies to goods placed on the market or put into service after the date. Directive (EU) 2024/2853, Article 22(1) and Article 2(1).
