Website terms of use
Effective 9 August 2026
These terms govern your use of compliancesme.com and everything published on it. Using the site means you accept them. Separate terms govern purchased systems and free systems; where those apply, they take precedence for the files they cover.
1. Ownership of the content
Everything on this site, the pages, the free statutory libraries, the obligation registers, the guides, the assessment, the structure and arrangement of all of it, is the copyright of ComplianceSME unless stated otherwise. Copyright is asserted in all countries. The underlying legislation quoted on this site is the property of its respective public sources; our selection, arrangement, indexing, and presentation of it is our own work and is protected as such.
Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership to you.
2. What you may do
You may read the site, print or save extracts for your own use or your company's internal use, and share links to any page. You may quote short extracts, provided you do not modify them and you name ComplianceSME as the source with a link to the page you took them from.
You may link to any page on this site, provided the link does not present ComplianceSME in a false or misleading way and does not suggest endorsement of you or your products by us.
3. What you may not do
You may not republish, reproduce, sell, or distribute any part of this site's content, in whole or in part, without our prior written permission. You may not modify our content or create derivative works from it.
You may not scrape, crawl, harvest, or bulk-download the site's content, and you may not collect it manually at scale. You may not use any part of this site's content to train, fine-tune, ground, or evaluate any AI model, or to build or improve any dataset, database, or product. Search engine indexing of pages for the purpose of directing users to this site is permitted.
You may not frame any part of this site inside another site, and you may not remove or obscure any copyright or source notices.
4. The free libraries
The free statutory libraries, including the company law libraries of all twenty-eight nations, are published for the direct use of businesses working on their own compliance. They are free to use. They are not free to take. Downloadable free systems are additionally governed by the Free Systems Licence.
5. Our name
ComplianceSME is our trading name. You may not use it, or any confusingly similar name, in a way that suggests your product, service, or content comes from us or is endorsed by us.
6. Licensing
If you want to reproduce our content beyond what these terms allow, ask first through the contact page. Permission is granted in writing or not at all.
7. No advice
The content of this site is information about compliance, not legal advice. It is not an audit and it does not replace professional counsel where your circumstances require it.
8. Breach
ComplianceSME may suspend or end the access and any free accounts of anyone who breaches these terms, and reserves all other rights and remedies. Clauses 1, 3, and 5 survive any ending of your use of the site.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
