The ComplianceSME app for the Stripe Dashboard
What the app does, how to connect it, what it reads from your Stripe account and what it never reads
1. What the app does
Link the ComplianceSME app in your Stripe account and it assesses your business's compliance needs in one go. It reads what your Stripe account already holds about the business and names the obligations that apply, the toolkit that covers each one, and the dates ahead. Nothing on your account is changed.
Install from the Stripe App Marketplace
2. How to connect it
- Copy this link: https://marketplace.stripe.com/apps/compliancesme
- Open your Stripe account in the same browser and paste the link in the address bar.
- Press Install, choose the account, and press Continue on the permissions screen. The install finishes on compliancesme.com/account.
- Back in your Stripe Dashboard, open the app from the Apps tray, the four squares, or from App settings, Open app. The panel reads your account and shows your obligations.
3. The toolkits
Every compliance agent toolkit comes with AI literacy and compliance training. Anyone can use them. No pre-qualification is needed. The agents are the instruments.
4. What the app reads from your Stripe account
The app asks for two read-only permissions when you install it, and it uses no others. Everything below is read through your own Dashboard session, so a colleague who cannot see the account cannot see it through this app either.
- Country. The country your Stripe account is registered in, which sets the market the register is read against.
- Business type. Individual, company, non-profit or government entity, which is the legal form many obligations turn on.
- Merchant category code. The category your account already carries, which points at the sector rules.
- Product description and business website. The free-text lines on your Stripe business profile, read to work out what the business does.
- Headcount estimate and annual revenue band. Where your account carries them. Several obligations start at a staff or turnover threshold. Where they are absent, the panel says the account does not carry them and does not guess.
- Stripe Tax registrations. The countries you have told Stripe you are registered in, the scheme and the status of each, which is how the panel knows which markets you trade into.
- Whether the account can take charges, and your Stripe account identifier and Dashboard user identifier, which travel with the request so that it can be signed and checked.
All of it is read only.
5. Privacy
The two permissions above do not reach payment data, and the app asks for nothing that would.
- No payments, no charges, no payment intents.
- No customers and no customer records.
- No payouts, no balance and no bank details.
- No card numbers. Card details never reach ComplianceSME through any route.
- No invoices, no subscriptions and no products of yours.
The facts listed in section 4 are sent to compliancesme.com, which returns the obligations, the toolkits that cover them and the dates ahead. Nothing else is sent, and the request is signed by Stripe and checked before it is read.
Nothing from your Stripe account is stored against a ComplianceSME customer record by the panel.
Data read through this app is used to answer the merchant who asked. It is not aggregated, sold, published or given to anyone else. The full account is in section 6 of the privacy notice.
