The Companies House identity verification transition ends on 17 November 2026
17 November 2026 marks the end of the twelve month transition for Companies House identity verification, which started on 18 November 2025. Directors, LLP members and PSCs must be verified.
Failure blocks confirmation statements and risks strike-off and financial penalties. The population is an estimated 6 to 7 million people across every UK company and LLP. The transition ran for twelve months from 18 November 2025, so 17 November 2026 is its last day rather than its start.
Directors, LLP members and PSCs
Every UK company and LLP, an estimated 6 to 7 million people. A dormant single-director company is inside the same population as a trading group.
Verifying before the backstop
- List every director, LLP member and PSC attached to your company.
- Find your own due date from the confirmation statement date, or from the birth month rule where a PSC is not a director.
- Verify each person, working to that individual due date rather than to the backstop.
- Keep the verification record against the next confirmation statement.
- Treat 17 November 2026 as the outer limit, not the target.
Two systems cover this date
Identity verification comes from ECCTA 2023 and lands on duties held in the Companies Act 2006, so two systems cover it.
ECCTA 2023 £1,500
Companies House identity verification and the failure to prevent fraud offence.

Companies House frames this as a twelve month transition from 18 November 2025 with individual due dates driven by the confirmation statement date or, for PSCs who are not directors, the first 14 days of their birth month.
